Español I Essential Outcomes
The following essential outcomes are things that we hope to master in Spanish 1.
· The student will be able to ask and answer basic personal questions.
· The student will be able to describe the world in which he or she lives including time, weather, day and date.
· The student will be able to describe himself/herself using personal characteristics and conditions.
· The student will be able to discuss places, classes, activities at school.
· The student will be able to communicate basic needs and activities using the present tense of regular and irregular verbs.
· The student will be able to identify what belongs to him or her using possessive adjectives.
· The student will be able to express likes and dislikes.
· The student will be able to recognize simple past tense to communicate about the past.
· The student will be able to describe his or her family, house and city.
· The student will be able to tell someone what to do.
· The student will be able to discuss clothing and leisure items.
· The student will be able to order and describe food in restaurants/ cafes.
· The student will be able to explain geography of Hispanic countries.
· The student will be able to explain customs of Hispanic countries including: names, family, celebrations and Hispanic holidays.
· The student will be able to compare and contrast the United States and Hispanic countries in relation to food, schools, daily routine, and transportation.
· The student will be able to identify and explain the strong influence of the Hispanic culture in the United States.
· The student will write a well-constructed paragraph in Spanish.
· The student will answer questions about a simple reading selection in Spanish.
